Gordon and Jocelyn Simms

Play-writing– Gordon and Jocelyn will work with a small group on developing a script from scratch leading to the production of 10 minute plays. A useful session for anyone interested in directing, acting, script writing, or writers wanting some practice writing speech and dialogue.

Gordon Simms  Formally head of Performing Arts at what is now Blackburn University, Gordon hoped for a quiet life on retiring to rural France in 2002. However, in 2012 he organised the first Bilingual LitFest in the tiny village of St Clémentin with guest of honour, Helen Dunmore. In 2014 the festival was repeated gaining EU recognition and funding. A third is planned for 2016 in tandem with festivals in Italy, Spain and the UK. As well as writing poetry Gordon thoroughly enjoys playwriting and is currently involved with a newly founded theatre company for whom he is directing. His collected poems, Uphill to the Sea, won the Biscuit prize, 2012.

    1. Hi Geoff thank you for your interest in the Charroux Literary Festival. The next festival will be from 24-26 August 2017 in the town of Charroux in the Poitou Charente Region of South West France. Layla and yourselves would be most welcome to be involved; We will have Theatre skills each day of the festival. The Tutors are Adults, and most of the attendees are adults.WE also have a number of creative writing workshops. Last year we had two teenagers attend, they both enjoyed it very much, but she will not be supervised at all by us, so as long as she is happy being in a class/workshop with adults, then she is most welcome. Please do keep in touch. You can also find us on face book or email us at charrouxlitfest@gmail.com Best wishes Kate
