Chris and Kate spent a mainly dry morning in Alloue at the car boot sale- fundraising for the Literary Festival. Thanks to all who came past our stall for your encouragement. When the rain turned from a drizzle to a flood, we made for home, hot baths, and a good bottle of red.
Spent a wonderful day on Saturday in St Clémentin with the poet and author Michèle Roberts – she gave an inspiring workshop exploring the use of memoir in writing. The event was organised by Gordon and Jocelyn Simms who will be at the Charroux Literary Festival 2015 in South West France, hosting sessions on script writing and poetry. Katherine Gallagher will be presenting a workshop ‘Not waving but drowning’* based on the work and life of the poet Stevie Smith. Thursday 27th August 2015 10.30-12.30. Katherine comments that Smith is heartbreakingly alert, sad, witty, funny, and has an enormous range of poems from the comic to the tragic to the fantastical. She engages with myths and fairy tales, always roaming from the bizarre to the tragic.
